Joshua Pendragon is an independent scholar and researcher specialising in the history of fencing, swordplay, and the role of the sword in Europe. He was Guest Exhibition Curator for the Wallace Collection’s Noble Art of the Sword exhibition of 2012, has been the External Consultant on terms relating to fencing for the revision of the Oxford English Dictionary since 2001.

He has taught both modern and historical fencing, and has studied the history of these subjects at postgraduate level at Oxford and, for a time, at Glasgow. He has been on radio interviews regarding the duel, and has written on fencing, history, and collectors. He currently lives in the Greater Manchester area, where his wife teaches and he learns.
