This is Fox Spirit Books and here we aren’t really into traditional boundaries, so when we were approached with something new and exciting of course we said yes.
This imprint covers historical european martial arts (HEMA). It might seem an odd move for a genre fiction publisher but we think it makes perfect sense. You can hardly swing a sabre at a genre event without hitting someone who would know how to use it.
A significant cross section of SF and Fantasy fans and writers are martial artists of some form. Martial Arts, especially the sword based ones play a regular role in fantasy writing. All in all we felt there was enough of an audience among our existing readership to appreciate this sort publication.
All that said, we did feel the HEMA arm of our work needed its own identity.
