We are delighted to reveal the cover for the upcoming collection of one of our most featured writers and editor of The Fox Spirit Book of Love, C.A. Yates. Designed by Vincent Holland-Keen and the author, we pray your eyes can take it…

Have you ever wondered if fish can sing? Seen bikinis kill? Been curious about whether or not there’ll be any justice at the end of the world, or if dogs are really psychopomps? Don’t worry if you haven’t, because C.A. Yates has already thought about all these things and more. Her debut collection gathers together most of her work with Fox Spirit Books, plus other outlets, and some new and previously unpublished work under one roof… which, admittedly, makes for some strange bedfellows. That’s how we like it though, right?

FS Book of Love : Cover

Those of you who subscribe to Alasdair Stuart’s the Full Lid got a preview of this, those who don’t well it’s here  and we highly recommend it.

7 Books with 7 covers

With the launch of our last Monsters cover, I though it would be nice to revisit the whole series of stunning desolate covers by Daniele Serra. 

We began in Europe, which really only covered Western European Monsters, something we decided to correct.

A lot of these stories were tied to the relationship with the land, in different ways. 

Across Asia, the relationship to family and ancestors was a recurring theme, 

Drop bears are real and will brook no debate on this. 

These ended up being split into two volumes as it doesn’t just cover the USA. They books have quite distinctly different personalities and the second volume was I think one of the highest levels of translations we have had.

Correcting the issue with European Monsters, picking up a huge area, and another one with a high number of translations.

Eurasian Monsters Cover reveal

So here we are at the seventh and final volume in a huge project. You’ve travelled the world with us dipping a toe into many local tales and mythologies, seeing the continents through their monsters. We end our introduction to the worlds horrors with Eurasian Monsters and another of Daniele Serra’s amazing bleak landscapes on the cover.

A huge thanks to everyone who has been involved with these books, especially our cover artist, editor and typesetter. It’s been a huge project and I am very proud of everything that has been achieved in creating this series. Anyway, enough from me. I’ll run a post of all the covers in a few days, but for now I offer you, Eurasian Monsters.

Petra MacDonald available now!

Leave out a saucer of milk, hang a horse shoe over the door, sprinkle a little iron round your doors and windows. The Queen of the Fae is coming. 

We are delighted to announce the release of the latest novella by Shona Kinsella ‘Petra MacDonald and the Queen of the Fae’ with cover art by Tabatha Stirling.

Petra MacDonald is a bisexual, pagan artist who lives and works on a small Scottish island. While in a trance, she paints a young girl who has been abducted by the Queen of the Fae and it falls to Petra to save her. 
 
She must travel Faery, collect three items for the Queen, escape the sex spell of the Selkie prince and steal the loyalty of her fae guard. 
 
Can she bring the child home before it’s too late?

Opening paragraphs

‘It was dusk when Petra came out of her trance, her arm sore from wielding the brush. Her hands were covered in paint and she could feel speckles drying on her face. She looked at the canvas and frowned. She had painted a young girl, facing away from the viewer, shoulders slumped and head down. That was unusual; Petra rarely painted people during trance work, except those she knew.
Even more notable was the menacing feeling of the painting. Shadows crowded around the child, claw-like shapes reaching towards her. As Petra studied the canvas she noticed the glint of eyes, peering towards the girl who hunched away from them.’

Starfang Trilogy Cover Reveal

StarFang Volume 1 has been out for a while now, and you should read it because Werewolves in Space!
